Lost & Found

One of the biggest problems with technology and photography is that it's almost impossible to keep track of all your photos. Especially over a 20 year span with them being spread out over old hard drives, cd's, dvd's, cloud accounts, etc. I know of a couple photographers who have spent tens of thousands of dollars over the last 10 to 15 years on their storage and redundant backups but how many of us could afford to do that. Every once in a while I'll stumble upon a folder containing photos on an old hard drive and last night I did just that. The folder from just about a decade ago was full of black and white photos taken with the 2005 Ricoh GRD camera. I have no idea how this folder ended up on this drive but the timing seems to match when I switched from one computer to another and I most likely didn't have enough storage space. The photos posted here were all taken in what's known as Philadelphia's "Loft District", a neighborhood that also goes by the "Eraserhood" (thanks David Lynch), Callowhill, Chinatown North and over the last couple of years as "Spring Arts" which of course came from gentrifying developers. I should have taken a lot more photos of the neighborhood but once the gentrification gains steam I almost immediately lose interest. Today this area reeks of High Line and Chelsea dreams.
