Manic Sunday - The Art Life
Sunday is only a little more than half over and mind is already cluttered with ideas, photos, paintings, books, etc.
Sunday began with breakfast at Bob's Diner in the Roxborough neighborhood of Philadelphia where I was able to take a couple of snapshots for my never-ending portfolio.
With the very cold and wet weather for May I stayed in my neighborhood where I walked about six miles while looking to add to "Suburbs In The City". After spending too many hours on the subway over the last year working on "Subway Nobody" it was nice to breath fresh air again and to focus on non urban photography.
After arriving back home and editing the few photos I took today I began starring at this blank canvas. It's been about a week and I'm not sure how to begin. Do I continue with my recent bright color painting or do I return to my "Through My Mind, Darkly" paintings? When I paint I like to keep the momentum going by staring a new one immediately after finishing one.
Next I was studying the proof of my next book that's available on Amazon and will be able to be ordered from just about any bookstore soon. I'm very happy with the print quality of the 83 photos and I'm already have plans for several more books of the same size.
Of course when you do a lot in a day you're about to come across something negative. For me it was finding two more people using my "Philadelphia 471" without my permission. Lately I haven't spent that much time searching for copyright infringement because it was eating a hole in my stomach.
Completing half the day was finishing "David Lynch: Catching The Big Fish". I read this book several times a year to help center myself as an artist. Lynch is an artistic accelerant who makes Warhol look like a child sitting in the corner sucking his thumb.
