Music And Art

 I know a lot of artists that paint in silence but it’s something I’ve never been able to do. Every little sound from voices, automobiles to birds diverts my attention away from the painting I’m working on. I don’t seem to have this problem when I’m editing photos and it’s most likely due to the ability to come to a complete stop at any time during the process. For me I must listen to music but not just any music because the varying sound from song to song can also distract my attention away from the painting. What I discovered was that looping music for an hour acted as a kind of white noise to me. I’ve made several cassette tapes over the years that vary depending on my mood.
