The Acme Bags

I’ve finished 20 oil stick paintings on paper cut from Acme supermarket bags.  Why Acme bags? Well, I like the color of the bags and they only cost 10 cents each. With the cost of art supplies an artist sometimes has to improvise and it’s not trying to be cool or making it in to something more than it is, it’s out of necessity.

I began this series on new canvas with some as large as 30”x40”. Then I found a few used 14x18 canvases and glued the Acme bag paper to the canvas. When those were finished I was left with just the Acme paper to work with. Most of these are approximately 14”x18” but a few are slightly smaller.
