Broken Train, Broken People

Three times over the last two weeks I was stuck on or behind a broken down subway train, caught between City Hall Station and 30th Street Station. Being on a stuck train for 45 minutes with these commuters was an interesting experience. Those over the age of forty five took in stride, and saw an opportunity to close their eyes. Those younger were mostly on the verge of panic, especially when their phone signal became weak. They fidgeted, rocked back and forth, and strangled their phone. One girl pulled out a plate of food from somewhere.
