Return To Devil's Pool

With temperatures being forecasted into the mid 80s on Thursday and Friday I decided to take a walk down to Devil's Pool to see if anyone would show up. On Thursday about 20 people showed up to dive off of the rocks and relax in the sun. I was pleasantly surprised. Friday on the other hand was a little out of control, especially for it only being mid April. Shortly after my arrival the crowd swelled to at least 100 people. There was a line of mostly inexperienced young people ready to jump off the high rocks. A couple of groups were trying to drown (no pun intended) the other out with their portable speakers. Bar-B-Que grills were smoking away as were all the weed smokers. The high pitched screams of the young girls jumping off the rocks began to draw attention and on the far side of the creek I witnessed a motorcycle policeman watching the activity. Have I mentioned before that all this activity is actually illegal and the city of Philadelphia has threatened to shut Devil's Pool down again like they did a few years ago by placing police at each of the trail heads. The city a couple of years ago also threatened to fill it in with rocks. I would hate to see either of those things happen.
