I'm Back
I finally found an original Ricoh GRD camera from 2005 that didn't cost a ridiculous amount of money. Granted it was more than what I wanted to pay, but it was no where near what some people are asking for them on eBay. Purchasing this camera was an easy decision to make. First the camera was in the U.S. which is rare in itself, but I've also known it's previous owner for a long time. This camera is flawless.
I know I'm never going to be able to own eight of these cameras again, like I use to, but I am at some point going to get at least one backup GRD.
After this camera arrived I began to pull my portfolio albums where I used the GRD camera and put them front and center on my desk. Right now I can't say when I'm going to begin using the camera, I do know that I will be using it again for photos in the Wissahickon, the subway, my "GRD Diary" which is a collection of photos from several bodies of work, and hell, maybe I'll take a trip or two to New York City. Who knows where this will lead.
The photos I've made, and will make with the GRD, are different than any other thing I've worked on before and it's something that I have to continue, but it will not interfere with my current bodies of work.
My attitude changed after this camera arrived. It's like a lopped off arm miraculously grew back after seven years. I almost dare say that I'm happy.
